Denny Mekus
Denny “The Greek” Mekus is the founding member of the band. With origins from the Mediterranean Sea and a Quad Cities native, he’s always had a love for 70s and 80s music. A singer and guitar player, he knew that being gifted with chest hair, having a friend with a boat, and looking like a lost member of the Bee Gees, that this band was predestined.
While heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin and arena-rock, Denny knew it was time to pay homage to the countless hours of Journey and soft rock bands spun on the FM radio in his mother’s minivan of days past.
Luke Abrahamsen-Collins
“Cool Hand” Luke Abrahamsen-Collins may long for chest hair, but he is no stranger to the guitar.
Having played since before he got his sea legs, he brings his unique blend of melodic-yet-90s-inspired techniques to the group.
Always evolving as a musician, he is affectionately known as the member with the best hair.
Shawn Driscoll
Born on the floor of a dinghy off the shore of Princeton Beach, Iowa, and raised on the smooth, easy-listening music of the 70s and 80s, Shawn Driscoll, or as his young deckhand friends would call him, “Lido,” began playing drums and wearing polyester at the tender age of 37. Heavily influenced in his even younger years by television shows Gilligan’s Island and The Love Boat, Lido found himself at an important occupational crossroads in life: Drummer or Deckhand? Deckhand or Drummer? He looked leagues deeper into himself, diving far into his core… to his stomach… and being an avid fan of seafood buffets, asked himself, “Why can’t I have it all?” Forged from keel metal and soft rock, Shawn “Lido Deck” Driscoll was launched from the berth of his safe harbor and now sails the high C’s with For Those About to Yacht, the band for the 1%, 100% of the time.
Donovan Gustofson
Don Juan D'Gusto always had a dream of performing in a Baby Shark tribute band. After failed auditions for The Blues Brothers, & Spinal Tap, for years he had lost his way, living the lonely life of a bass player.
One fateful night while singing an out of tune version of The Love Boat Theme down by the wharf, he was approached by a band that would accept his questionable wardrobe choices, and give him the opportunity to leave his sketchy past as a bass player behind him. Don Juan D'Gusto now plays piano with like minded hooligans & mutineers.... one step closer to his dream of a Baby Shark tribute band.
Set sail with the band.....the myth.....the legend...... For Those About To Yacht!
Jacob palmer
When the band found themselves in need of a deckhand, they ran into Jake at L.L. Bean, wallowing aimlessly in a sea of cable-knit cardigans and hired him on the spot.
He was quickly promoted to the position of keyboardist, and his Michael McDonaldesque playing style became an integral part of the band's sound
Charlie Saddoris
He's a little bit country, he's a little bit Yacht!
Charlie a.k.a Conga Chuck has been chilling with all the coolest kids in the good ol QCA for a while. He doesn't stop at just being the Conga man but also being a member of 3 Men and a Molly and throwing on his improv Sunday Boots with The Nightcaps Improv Troupe. Charlie prides himself the person that never gets pissed and is the legit Godson of Charlie Daniels (The Devil Went Down to Georgia).
First and foremost he's ready to keep it chill and wants everyone to party hardy! **This Bio is Sponsored by Iowa Beverage(Not really but they paid him to say this)
